'AMRA offers insurance option with licensing'
Beginning with the 2007 racing season, the AMRA (American Motor Racing
Association) will offer an insurance option with each AMRA license.
Underwritten by K&K Insurance, long-time standard bearer for competition
and auto racing insurance, this coverage will be available to drivers,
crew members, or even officials involved at AMRA sanctioned tracks
and events.
The $50,000.00 excess medical benefit coverage will be available for
$40.00.
Coverage includes surface & air ambulance runs, as well as medical
benefits
not covered by facility policy or personal insurance, and is subject
to
$15,000.00 (the minumum AMRA sanctioned facility insurance coverage)
deductible.
AMRA licensed drivers can choose this insurance option when applying
for licensing.
2007 AMRA competition licensing without the K&K Insurance option
is $60.00.
Adding the insurance option would total $100.00.
Crew members, officials, or others who request coverage may do so
by
applying for a "non-competition" AMRA license. The cost
of the
non-competition license will be $40.00 for the 2007 season.
K&K Insurance has stipulated this "licensing" requirement.
While the "non-competition" license is merely a necessary
formality, the
AMRA will include "non-competition" license holder's on
the AMRA newsletter
list. This added benefit will be provided by AMRA at no additional
cost.
The $50k coverage is good for the calender year of AMRA sanctioned
events.
Many times, race competitors find their personal insurance carrier
will not
only deny a claim, but will cancel coverage when finding a claimant
was
injured as a result of a motorsports related accident.
This K&K Insurance policy is designed specifically for the racing
hobbyist.
AMRA's Steve Davis: "As a person who found themselves under-insured
after
my families's recent accident, I absolutely think this is the best
$40.00
you could spend on your race program. You have no idea how much emergency
healthcare, helicopter or ambulance transportation costs can
run until you've had the experience. I've since found it's best to
'prepare
for the worst', rather than be caught unprepared."
"The AMRA has tried for years to find an affordable insurance
plan for not
only the drivers, but crew-members and even our inspectors. The Keefer's
deserve all the credit for their perserverance. I hope that everyone
takes
advantage of this insurance option rather than finding out they were
under-insured the way I did. If not for themselves, I hope they consider
their families".
