AMRA to Sanction Skyline Late Models
Joins already established AMRA Modified sanction
By Scott Wolfe

MT. ALTO, WV.-AMRA president Larry Keefer and Skyline Speedway promoter Billy Jarrell have once again joined forces in announcing that Skyline Speedway will be sanctioned by the AMRA Late Model series. The announcement further establishes the growth of the AMRA in the sanctioning of the full bodied stock cars which began last season with Tyler Mountain, WV driver Harold Redman, Jr. picking up the inaugural crown.
Skyline Speedway has long been a supporter of the AMRA's Modified division, now establishing itself as a supporter of the AMRA Late Models. Skyline Speedway races six divisions weekly as 410 sprint cars, Pure Stocks, Four Cylinders and mini-wedges comprise the Friday night racing card.
Said Jarrell, "This gives our local drivers a greater chance at earning AMRA National points and thus gives them a chance to earn valuable points' money from AMRA.  If it is good for our drivers, then it is also good for Skyline Speedway.  Our late model drivers and owners have been extremely supportive of Skyline and a majority of the teams felt this was the thing to do."
"I am extremely pleased that Skyline has come aboard in the late model division," said Larry Keefer.  "We want to expand the late model division to the prestige of the modified division. The AMRA is strong in the fact it is a sanction comprised of the drivers and owners and for the drivers and owners. Many sponsors and track owners have stepped up to the plate in helping this venture grow. Once again, it is a win-win situation for all involved."
Skyline joins Beckley Motor Speedway, K-C Raceway, Ohio Valley Speedway, Tyler County Speedway, and I-77 Motorsports Park as tracks that sanction both AMRA divisions.  Modified tracks include Rocky Top, Skyline Speedway, Elkins Speedway, I-77 Motorsports Park, Eastside Speedway, Potomac Speedway, Beckley Motor Speedway, K-C Raceway, Charleston Speedway, Ohio Valley Speedway, and Tyler County Speedway.
The AMRA has announced an explanation of awarded points. Only the best 20 AMRA finishes will count in the National point’s championship.  Drivers can receive AMRA points at any of the AMRA sanctioned tracks. The driver takes his best 20 weeks. To earn points, a driver must be a member of the AMRA.
In order to race an AMRA event, drivers must have a temporary ($15) license or a full membership.  After four temporary permits are issued a driver becomes an AMRA member and can start earning points. With an initial full membership ($45) a member begins earning points immediately.
In addition to AMRA points drivers also can take advantage of individual track point funds. Skyline will award a new chassis to its modified and late model points champion in 2010.
Skyline has also expanded its outreach to fans and drivers with a Facebook page, which will announce updates along with the Skyline website.
