(Princeton West Virginia) Following numerous rainouts to kickoff of their 2017 season, the Princeton Speedway in Princeton West Virginia is set to return to racing and open up their 2017 season this Saturday night May 20th. The season opening event will feature a special appearance by the Super Late Models paying $2,000 to win along with AMRA Modifieds along with the tracks all other regular classes. Princeton Speedway which is the southern most AMRA sanctioned facility, will once again play host to the AMRA Modified division on a weekly basis in 2017, with periodical special appearances by the Super Late Models which will operate and race under AMRA rules and receive AMRA Late Model national points as done over the past number of seasons.
Once again operating under the leadership of the Bishop family, the track looks to continue to play host to competitive and family oriented racing programs for both fans and competitors all throughout the summer. The track which moved to Friday nights in 2016, will return to their traditional Saturday night schedule in 2017, along with a special Monday July 3rd date which will be highlighted by the AMRA Modified Freedom 30.
The 2 AMRA Late Model divisions have drew some stellar talents over the past number of seasons, as weekly Modified talents such as Michael Moore, Jason Cochran, Dylan Shafer and Steve Stover are perennial favorites within the division in addition to appearances by talents from outside the area throughout the season. As for the Super Late Model side of things, drivers such as Ricky Williams, Robbie Scott, Chris Meadows and more, have all put on some great racing excitement and that is only expected to grow in 2017.
The Super Late Models will make special appearances on May 20th for their season opener and will return June 3rd, July 8th, July 29th, August 26th, and the season ending $5,000 to win West Virginia Dirt Cup on September 9th. The track has proudly stepped up to offer one of the most generous regular payouts for Late Models in the region at $2,000 to win, $300 to start (10+ cars) or $1,500 to win, 200 to start (9 cars or less). As for the Modifieds whom compete at the track each week, the track promises another very competitive payout of $800 to win, $125 to start (10+ cars) and $700 to win, $115 to start (9 cars or less) throughout the season.
Race fans are encouraged to make their way to the Princeton Speedway this summer for one of the most unique Motorsports facilities in the Mountain State. As always, kids 10 & under receive free general admission at the Princeton Speedway and racing is slated to begin at 7 PM throughout the season.
