RAIN DOMINATES OPENING WEEKEND OF RACING
SKYLINE SPEEDWAY HOSTS LONE AMRA EVENT
While many of the AMRA’s tracks, competitors and fans all eagerly anticipated the first weekend of April to kick racing action into high gear across the AMRA family of tracks, Mother Nature would not cooperate and dominate the first weekend of points racing. With the Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta Ohio forced to cancel on Friday due to heavy rainfall, and the Ohio Valley Speedway, Atomic Speedway, Tyler County Speedway and I-77 Speedway all forced to postpone their racing activity on Saturday, the lone AMRA sanctioned event of the weekend would take place at the Skyline Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday afternoon’s opener at the Skyline Speedway would serve as testament to how eager the racing community was to see some racing action, as a packed house and over 110 cars would pack the pits for the speedway’s season opener. With all 3 AMRA National Divisions competing on Sunday, Freddie Carpenter would pick up the AMRA Late Model win while Travis Dickson would score the AMRA Modified feature win and James Dennis would take home the AMRA Sport Mod victory!
Now as the AMRA family of tracks move onto the 2nd week of racing beginning on April 7th, the action is slated to pick up borrowing a little help from Mother Nature! Weekend Events are listed below:
Friday April 7th:
Beckley Motorsports Park: Season Opener – Legendary Hilltop Speedway: Regular Racing
Saturday April 8th:
Tyler County Speedway: Let It Ride 55 Modified Special – Ohio Valley Speedway: Season Opener – I-77 Speedway: Regular Racing – Atomic Speedway: All-Star Sprint Car Special
